Phoenix >Way Cool Hair
I have been getting my hair done by Tad
for over 15 years...my kids have grown up in his various salon locations, through the transition from Way Cool to Hair Pollution. The first thing I noticed with my first cut and style: I felt beautiful. The second thing I noticed: I hardly had to "do" my hair the next morning and it still looked SO GOOD. Third: OMG, I could actually make my hair look good MYSELF (not as good as Tad and his magic fingers, but until I can figure out a way to take my head off my shoulders when styling it myself, I'm happy); for the first time in my life I saw pictures of me and actually was pleased with how my hair looked. Fourth: head massage...if I die in that chair, I will die a happy woman. Fifth: My hair is so, so soft and silky when I leave Tad! As time went on, I continued to be a completely satisfied customer.
I have always loved that Tad will do what I want, but my philosophy has typically been, "You're the hair expert...YOU figure out what will make me look good." And he does. Even when I'm going straight home to the couch after my appointment, he does it all the way...there's no way to not love it.
I moved across the country for five years several years ago, and one of the best parts about moving back home was regular appointments with Tad. Even when I lived in New York, I made sure I saw Tad EVERY time I came home for a visit. I can't count how many stylists I went to back East, and none of them could measure up.
I should also mention that although I'm loyal to Tad, his training process for his employees is quite vigorous. Before they are allowed to touch a client's head, they start out by sweeping the floors and answering the phones. They have to practice on him before he'll allow them to shampoo customers. They go to hair shows in New York and Europe. It's important to him that they ALL--him included--continue to learn new techniques, styles and trends.
Finally, if you aren't the hippest person, don't let the comments about what a cool, artsy vibe this place has scare you off. I am probably the oldest, least cool 44-year-old you could ever meet, and my teenage daughter is a nerd to the nth degree, and we both love the place. Going there on a Saturday afternoon is like therapy...you can just be who you are. Everyone is friendly and easygoing, there's always music, and you can write on the walls of the bathroom with chalk. What more could you ask for?
I have gone to Way Cool Hair for almost two years now and the salon owner, Tad, has done my hair for over a year now. He is an amazing stylist! He's always able to do what I want and more. Half the time, I go to my appointment, not really sure what I want to do, and he's able to help me figure out what we should do this time. He always styles my hair amazingly, and I'm always happy to go out, show my hair off, and tell people where I got it done. All the stylists are really cool and the atmosphere is awesome, but Tad is my absolute favorite.
Great Work. No longer a Phoenix resident, I still try to stop in this place to get a good clean-up and style from Samantha. She's great! Wonderful at cutting curly, thick hair! When I'm long overdue for a haircut or need a fix-up from the last haircut disaster, I can always depend on a very well, nicely executed job done by Samantha.
Best Hair in Phoenix. I have gone to a great salon for 8 years. When my stylist was out of town, I searched "funky hair" and Way Cool showed up. I called, got an appointment with Megan and have been happy since. I like short hair and Megan always has great ideas that are edgy and fun. I rarely come out like I did when I went in. She changes my style, so I don't get bored with the same short cut. She gives great instruction on how to make sure it looks great when I do it at home. Everyone in the salon is so great and the deco and atmosphere is FUN!! Definitely recommend, especially if you are tired with the same old look!!
BEST ATMOSPHERE TO WORK IN.
I am so lucky to have a spot at WC Hair Pollution. My co-workers ROCK, the reception crew ROCKS. The atmosphere is chill yet still so inspiring.
I can't imagine working any where else.
No one else touches my hair. I have been a client of Way Cool Hair, now called Hair Pollution, for over five years. Tad is awesome! He listens to what I have to say and makes recommendations based on my needs and desires. For three years I had waist length hair which he maintained, colored, layered, etc. When I said time to cut, 8" later he had hair to donate to Locks of Love. Six months ago, I showed up with three pages of different hairstyles I liked and we narrowed it down to three and I said be creative. It was awesome! Gave me a new look and a new attitude! Today, I'm here be even more daring. The Cardinals are in the Superbowl and I need to show support. Kelsey and Tad are creatively placing a cardinal red streak in the blonde do! I wouldn't let anyone else work with my hair - I have horror stories - checker dye jobs, hair fried, straw texture when wet, bad haircuts, etc. Having your hair done by a professional is the only way to go. It gives self-confidience and peace of mind
Megan is AMAZING!!!!!.
A friend of mine with naturally curly hair came in with the best cut and color I have ever seen. I have very curly hair, which I flat iron, so I jumped and asked her where she went and I was told of Way Cool. I am very very picky of my haircuts and have never truly LOVED a cut!!! Any girl with curly hair can understand this. Based on her suggestion, I made a appointment with Megan. I have never ever been so impressed by the professionalism and technique that this stylist has. First of all, she spent 10 MINUTES talking to me about what I wanted my hair to look like. I told her how I was growing out a very bad cut and she told me of how she could create a plan to keep it healthy while letting it grow into the hair I have wanted. She ACTUALLY listened to me before hacking away at my head. I walked out of there with such a great cut and color and felt gorgeous.
Usually after I wash my hair it sorta takes a few days for my hair to "tame", but it did. I was able to do my hair exactly how she did because she walked me through how to style it and where and what to put on my hair. I know this sounds like I work there or something, but I swear I don't. If you have curly, frizzy, or just a horrible cut, go to Way Cool Hair! I lived 45 minutes away until 2 weeks ago and didn't even care paying for the gas to go out there. It is worth it. By the way, my bad cut grew out and her plan did work and I have the haircut I have always wanted!!!!
My favorite place EVER!.
I walked in this morning after not cutting my hair for almost 5 years. Darci did an awesome job with my hair! I donated alot to locks of love, and i chopped alot off... They were all very nice and made me feel very welcome!
I will be returning soon!
Amazing Talent. I have very thin hair and it's hard finding somone who knows how to cut and style my hair in a way that doesn't highlight my baldness. My trust in stylists is not the greatest so you could just imagine how difficult it would be for me to find a stylist in a new city, not knowing a soul. Way Cool Hair was in my neck of the woods. I drove by it everyday when I went to work. The artistic outside is what drew me in and the sheer talent, professionalism and personalization is what kept me coming back. Megan is AMAZING. She helped me right away and cut my hair like I had never seen before...I had hair and for the first time in 3 years I felt comfortable not wearing a bandana!!! Unfortunately, I moved again and I miss Megan EXTREMELY!!! She is one in a million and I recommend her hands down!!!
Train wreck to model in an hour. You can't miss this place. You've probably noticed the surreal mural on the wall driving east on McDowell. I'm not gonna say who my hair dresser is because it's already difficult to get an appointment within a month. But everyone there is great.
