Real Food and Real People. We travelled from Houston for a conference in Phoenix, and were directed to this fine dining mecca! I was quickly a tad impressed by the valet parking in the back but to enter through the kitchen BLEW me away! The staff greeted you as you walked into the dining room as they prepared food and cleaned. Our waitress remembered us when we returned 3 days later for an encore before we left for home. Overall we were pleased with the entire experience and have made sure any friends we have going to Phoenix drop in!
Durant's - starting to fade?. I love many aspects of Durants - the ambiance, the drinks, the onion rings... but lately it seems that their food is getting really pricey for a non-foodie meal and they're always trying to upcharge you - get the smallest filet mignon ($24) with sauteed mushrooms ($8), a ceasar salad ($3), twice baked potato ($3), and a bottle of iced tea ($4) and suddenly you've spent $42! Add tax and you're at $50 - now add your tip and you're hitting $60 - without alcohol - that's a lot of money for not that great of a culinary experience. Still, it's a classic and a place you've got to go to on those special occasions...
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. What can I say except this has to be one of the best restaurants in Phoenix. Excellent food and service. They make you feel like you are the only person in the restaurant and that is what I call service!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic and handsome. I am a big fan of Durant's. I'm a cigar smoking, single malt scotch drinking young woman and love a great steak. This is a place I can go to have a lovely time with friends or a date. Fantastic food and a personable staff await those choosing to dine here. Great scotch selection, too!
Go Filet.
I eat lunch and dinner here about 4 times a week. If you go steak, go filet or prime rib. Everything else is so so.
Also tendency to overcook steaks.
Service is always top notch.
no longer a Phoenix tradition. Has become "tired".. Not the exciting Phoenix tradition it was 20 years ago. Have had 2 dreadful experiences with prime rib--so tough that it was "uncutable", not to mention "unchewable"! Service can be snotty-who needs that? Used to support "Dine out for AIDS"--no longer does it.
Where the elite meet and sometimes eat!. Having lived in PHX since the eighties I automatically think Durants' Fine Foods when talking Steak. Sure you can go to the other "more pretentious" steak houses around the valley but you won't be received with the type of hospitality, graciousness, and warm smiles from the staff at Durants'. It's where the martinis are served ice cold and the steaks piping hot! I am not aware of any other restaurant in the valley that allows you to see the kitchen...even before you dine!
Top of the Line. Enter the restaurant through the kitchen, say hi! to the chef's preparing food. Wait for a table in the bar and enjoy Durants famous "debris". The service is second to none and there isn't another steak in town with this flavor. I prefer the "Delmonico". Lots of other steak houses in the valley, but for the dollar, my opinion is by far that Durant's, is the "Best" in town.
AMAZING!. This is one of the best restaurants in the city! The food is excellent. The atmosphere is welcoming and its a great place to go for drinks and dessert. Birthdays are always a must too!
Top notch.
Durants is a tradition here in Phoenix. For steaks,
chops and other entrees, it's hard to beat.
