Editorial Review for Chase Field – by Brian Obermiller

In Short
This state-of-the-art facility accomplishes the seemingly impossible feat of being both massive and intimate at the same time. Chase Field's retractable roof is a technological marvel. Equally impressive is the natural turf that's genetically engineered to thrive in extreme heat and low light. Restaurants, an arcade, batting cages, a pool and whirlpool available for rental top a long list of modern amenities. PLus, every seat at the park offers a panoramic view of the field.

Chase is a corporate ballpark - clean, safe and full of MLB authorized 'charm'. Havent seen this many concessions since the Kyoto Protocol. Well behaved fans awash in beer. Best time to watch baseball is cool April/May evenings w/ roof open. MLB's tastiest girlwatching on any Fri/Sat nite - only thing 'hotter' is brutal June-Sept day games - avoid! Plentiful nearby parking - best value are little known lots due east, between the RR tracks & Washington. Bleachers (or cheap uppers and moving down) are best values; never pay retail for lower decks; discounts abound on ebay, stubhub since the team folded in 2003. Assuming they havent ripped it out to make room for another Team Shop, Baxter's Den(beyond CF), is/was adorable for kids under 5. Buy an ice cream or sushi and slowly stroll around the concourse that circumvents the field to peoplewatch and appreciate the entire facility.

Pros: Clean, comfortable, offsite parking, peoplewatching

Cons: comatose team, typical MLB ripoff, very hot outside

Everytime I visit Pheonix my uncle takes me to the BOB and we sit in his firm's season seats. The atmosphere there is like no other in the MLB. The people in AZ are so supportive of their D-Backs. It is a well engineered park made to fit thousands of screaming fans. The employees and concessions are second to none. Other MLB parks pale in comparison.

Pros: fan base, Inexpensive, good parking

Cons: hot
