Vistors should watch out. after getting our bill for almost $100 for 4 drinks we left. We mentioned this to a local taxi drive and a patron at another establishment. They responded "Oh yeah, they tend to over charge people from out of town".

I won't be back

Great Atmosphere. I love this Bar and would love to go again someday. I found the drinks to be a bit on the pricey side but other than that they have great variety of music and you can enjoy a smoke if you need to. It's very nice inside and comfortable to relax and hang out with friends.

Don't take it personally!. Ok...it's a great place to go and hang out. Ambiance is great. What I have noticed though, is if you're a gay man, the bartenders can be a little rude, but that's only because you look better than they do honey and they're just jealous! LOL! Don't take it personally! Yes, the traffic and parking is a biatch, but it won't be that bad after this darn construction is over and done with. It's just a bad time to be downtown right now, so just go early, get a great parking spot, get a great table or seat, get great food and drinks, grab some extra patience and be merry! Yes, more and more straight people are being introduced to the place, so make out more and maybe they'll leave. It's only a temporary trend and they'll start going somewhere else. Prices are reasonable. I've paid $15 for a martini in snottsdale, so they are competitive with their pricing structure. Just remember, if you want cheap drinks, a less crowded enviornment, and more patient servers...then head on over to your local AM/PM, grab some beer or mixers and invite some friends back to your place! Otherwise, relax, have fun and just be yourself!

Straight people are taking over??? Did our little secret get out....... Amsterdam is the place to be on a Friday night! Every Friday for that matter. It's become one of those neighborhood bars with great musis drinks and beautiful people!!! nevermind the overcrowding it's always been, that's what makes the atmosphere that much better. I can however say that the Straights, and by that I mean the STRAIGHT PEOPLE! are somewhat taking over-that's upseting to me and I'm a girl, a straight hot girl..... In any matter Amster-that's what we call it , is the best by far bar I've ver been to, and after all it's all about who you know right. P.s. one of the bartenders in the front is a total hottie........

What Happened??!?!?. First...Amsterdam is probably (well, used to be) the best way to spend a saturday evening at a gay establishment...but not anymore! It seems like the popular str8 club next door always has a looooong line/wait, so during the past year, I've noticed a high influx of breeders infiltrating my once beloved Amsterdam. Even worse, they're the kind that give you a dirty look if you look in their direction. Sometimes, I believe they don't realize where they are! It's definitely not as safe feeling as before. Even with security, I've heard a few cars drive by with people yelling F*Gs as patrons left Amsterdam. Welcome to the 21st century.......Phoenix style! Not that it's necessarily the bar's fault.

I do have to blame management for not helping with the breeder problem. It's obvious they're just looking out to make a quick buck. They need to involve the community with something along the lines of "interaction" during the night. They do those type of events in LA and NY clubs; and it's obvious Amsterdam is (sadly) trying to emulate that lifestyle. They need to make it gay like it used to be and lay off the ability of wanting to make an extra dollar by having the str8's next door come in. Now I know why I go to WeHo for a decent night out.

Beautiful & Not worth the looks. Here we have a stunning bar with all the elements to be an amazing spot to spend your evening. Well don't be fooled by a pretty face. Let me start with parking, the parking lot that is right besides the building is employee only. I dont get that! The employees get the best parking and the customers get the dirt parking lot across the street! Ok NP its only 110 out. I walk in and say hello to the bartender and get ignored for 10 minuets. With only 5 people in the bar that ticked me off. Normally I walk out now, but Im waiting for my date. The bartender finally comes over and I ask for a drink and he walks off. Still has not said a single word to me. As the night goes on it gets worse. When I closed out the tab at the end of the night the bill was not even close to correct. I will not be going back.

Plenty of young professionals with well-endowed bank accounts frequent this upscale bar.. In Short
Nestled in downtown Phoenix, this luxuriously appointed bar is a relative newcomer to the scene. Ornately decorated with a marble floor, a chandelier, overstuffed armchairs and wrought-iron barstools, Amsterdam offers a swanky respite from other decibel-heavy clubs. The piano bar and regular live entertainment provide a lounge atmosphere to enjoy custom creations such as the watermelon and appletini.
