Editorial Review for Medizona – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Fifteen years ago, when Southwestern cuisine was hotter than the seasonings used to make it, Lenard Rubin was considered a rising star in the Valley's culinary firmament. But he ditched fame for a gig in Russia where he oversaw the opening of 26 restaurants. Now Rubin is back, and he oversees a little restaurant near the Galleria. Entrees include eggplant tacos, curry-rubbed squab and many other unique delicacies.

The editorial review still mentions Lenard Rubin as the Chef/ Owner. Please be advised that he sold the restaurant 6 years ago and has had no affiliation with it since that time.

We went to the restaurant for the V'Day. After we were seated, it took about 15 min for the waiter to get to our table and he was so cold to us. When we asked, we were told the crowd was heavy and they had fewer hands. Menu looked adventurous and we went for a four course dinner. Appetizer came only after about 25 min and was not so great. Hoping for a better follow-up, we waited another 30 min for the salad. Salad was good. By now we could see other couples around us also losing calm since the wait was too long. While entrée came only after about 40 min, by now we had lost appetite and were praying to get out of the place. V'Day dinner was turning out to be a horror. People around us had already started complaining. We could see some couples take a short walk around before the next course was served! Entree was not so great for the price. Desserts were really nice. Overall, the experience was horrible and would not go back to the place again. While the restaurant wanted to make business, treatment meted out was very bad and food is a hype and very pricy. This place is only good for drinks.

Pros: Drinks, easy down-town parking at night

Cons: Attitude, Flavor, Pricy
